Houston, we have dilation!

I had my appointment this morning to test for Group B Strep and to see if I was progressing yet. The nurse took me back and went through the usual tasks: urine check, weight, blood pressure, listen to heartbeat. Hanky's heartbeat was 153 this morning. He is usually in the 140s and when I said that she asked if I had eaten something sweet for breakfast. I hadn't eaten yet so she said he was probably just hungry. :)

She started to leave the room and I asked if I was supposed to change into a gown or anything. She said, "no, Dr. Cobb won't be checking you today because you are only 34 weeks [I am not, I am 35 weeks, but I digress]." I tried to tell her Dr. Cobb told me last visit that she'd be checking me but the nurse stood her ground. I nearly cried I was so disappointed. I sat there debating on whether to call Ryan (he was on his way) and tell him to forget it. I decided to let him go ahead and come because we were supposed to discuss the birth plan today as well and I thought he should be there.

Ryan arrived and the nurse escorted him in. She also said, "you were right, she does want to check you," and she pulled out a gown and told me to change. Anyone who knows me knows I love to be right so I was a happy girl, haha.

Dr. Cobb came in a few minutes later. My uterus is measuring 36.5-37 weeks and she is estimating that Hanky will be 7-7.5 pounds at birth. I am dilated to 1 cm and 30% effaced and Hanky is at -2 station. I was so happy to hear that some progress has been made!

She had a patient in labor so we only briefly discussed the birth plan. She was cool with everything I had decided. She wants me to bring the birth plan to my next visit so we can go over things again. I love her and am so sad she's retiring!!!! Next appointment is on Tuesday, the 22nd!

New belly picture is posted!
